In this day and age of continual stories about student-athletes gone bad...we need to remember, there are still some amazing kids out there.  After winning the Conference Championship, a reporter from a local TV station came by the courts to do a story about  the program.  His first words to me were, "my boss isn't going to like this story because it doesn't have anything interesting to tell."  I beg to differ...this women's tennis team has 9 awesome kids who are studying various majors from mechanical engineering to psychology to business to film.  Laura Claus, a junior, is a triple major with 3.94 GPA.  Juliette Coupez, a senior, will graduate with a degree in mechanical engineering 3.82 GPA.  These 2 along with 2 others were honored at the President's luncheon for GPA's of 3.5 and above.  There were 3 WCC All-Academic team selections.   This is only the beginning...Anna Depenau and Juliette Coupez were selected for WCC All-Conference singles team and Maja Sujica and Anna Depenau (24-2 record) were selected for WCC All-Conference doubles team.  There were 3 player of the month selections...All of this on top of one of the most difficult competition schedules ever.  13 of 20 matches played were against NCAA nationally ranked teams...

By the end of the season, these girl's pulled off our first ever WCC Conference win against Pepperdine whom we had just lost 7-0 weeks before!  This gave us an automatic birth into the NCAA National Championships where we played #26 Vanderbult.  Unfortunately, we could not continue the run.

I ask you to hear the stories of all the great student-athletes here at USD where things are the way they should be...these kids are STUDENTS and ATHLETES and GOOD PEOPLE too!

Thank you to everyone who gave us their support this year... We are already excited for next season!

PS  Alums...June 20th is the last day to give your $20 so that we can win $10,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
